Howdy all,
My neighbor had about 25 dump trucks of black dirt hauled to his property last fall. This spring he started to spread it out with a rental tractor. I thought I'd be a nice guy and run over with my big bad Kubota L3410 and lend a hand. Well, there he is grinning like a cheshire (sp??) cat in the cab of a Cat 4x4 turbo TLB with 1.5 yard front bucket and hoe with a bucket that holds as much as my FEL! Yipe Yipe yipe! After the shock of seeing my hood come up to his floor boards (well, it felt that way) we started to play in the dirt.
The HST allowed me to make 2.5 to 3.0 dumps to each of his. Ha, so there! But he still laid 2x the dirt and then some, more than me in the same time! What a beast. It didn't help that we have had a low on top of town for the past week either! What a mess and what a workout! Heavy dirt, greasy dirt, sticky dirt, sloppy dirt. All in all, quite the fun time! /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif The bright side was that he got stuck more often than me, but I couldn't even get to where he got stuck! His tracks were deeper than my ground clearance. (ouch!)
Oh well, there is always a bigger badder better one out there! In case you're wondering, he paid about $700 for 24 clock hours. Actually, pretty cheap as the work he can do in 24 hours would probably take my tractor at least 75 to 100 hours.
