Soilmover

I need a soilmover or pan scraper to do some earth moving. I have a JD 6210, 4wd, 92 HP. I found a 2.5 yard scraper for $2500. Can I pull a 4 or 5 yard scraper with my tractor? What should I be looking for? When looking at a used unit, what should I be concerned about?

Thats great (((((((((((95hp)))))))))))))Youll pull the **** out of it. You'll need to plan ahead when using a pan scraper so you don't find yourself in a trench.You need to offset your cuts to avoid this. Cut a wider area than you think you'll need, also stagger your drops to keep everything level.Pan scrapers have been used for years.A few years back a fellow had one he was looking to sell that was hooked to a 8N,I passed on it an regret still today.

4 or 5 yards will be pushing the limit for your tractor. I pull a 4 yarder with 160 hp 2wd and it's a good match.

I don't know what your soil conditions are but around here when you reach the heavy clay you need lots of traction and some serious horsepower to move much. Most farmers around here are pulling 10 to 15 yard scrapers with 400-500 horse 4 wheel drive tractors. If you are just moving topsoil I think you could use a 4 yard, but for sure the 2.5 will work with your tractor.

I second this we pulled a 5 yd model with our 160 hp 4wd and it was the ONLY thing that ever got the tractor stuck(only did it once)
