Still looking since thats half the fun!
Well after almost 2 years of ownership we sold our place> If igured I would buy it and then play it by ear.
But after buying it i thought I could live here. When we first got it we had it listed and found out an offer was going to be placed and we Quickly removed it from the market. Thorugh the two years of ownership I found its faults such as being near an interestate, little to no trees, and we fell out of love with it.

I hope the new onwers appreciate the land more than we have.Of course now that it is gone I really miss it. The saying You never know what you got till its gone says so much right now.

I guess its almost a love or maybe that elitist feeling we got knowing we are landowners ..... So the last 3 days we spent looking at new land to buy!
Who knows what we will find?

Anyone else sell only to find themselves looking again?

This past October we bought a new place. Nicer (smaller) house, better land, fewer neighbors, better road, lower tax rate, and nicer barn(s).

Shortly after that, we sold our old place (where we've lived for 31 years prior) to my son. I was ready for a change. So was the Mrs.

As long as you "trade up" you'll be happy. Our old place was the nicest spot on earth 31 years ago. Now it's surrounded by industrial parks and subdivisions. My son has aspirations of someday developing the farm (88 acres) For now he just wants his kids to grow up where he did.

Good luck with your search for new land. Remember all the things you liked and DISliked about the old place while shopping. Maybe this time you can find "Heaven on earth".

My area has built up too. We used to live in the country, now the area is full of neighborhoods. We can no longer ride our horses since there are too many people who let their dogs run loose. We have been looking at NE Texas lately... All depends on if I can transfer within my company to that area.

GRRR, don't I hate to hear that. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gifIt really makes life difficult for the rest of us dog owners. Not that my lab is perfect; she's high spirited, mischievious, and a bit of a bully; also, friendly and spoiled. But because I acknowledge the above, she IS controlled.
Another peeve of mine is people who don't clean up after their pets; not only does it reflect badly on us, but I hate negotiating those piles as much as everyone else does. It really isn't that difficult to carry a plastic bag for easy cleanup and disposal.

Oops, didn't mean to highjack your post, /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif the comment above just hits a nerve with me. Good luck finding a place you're happy with. Once you're a landowner, it's hard to give it up; there's something about the satisfaction of improving your own land that is hard to replace.

I understand your frustration. Bad dog owners give everyone a bad name. I just think it is a sign of the times. Nobody takes responsibility for their children, animals, etc... I always believed I could tell how good a person would be at raising children by looking at how well behaved their pets are. I still believe this. People who have uncontrolled pets tend to have out of control children too. If they are not willing to train their pets or take control, what makes you think they could do the same for their children. Dogs are easier to train and control than children.

Ahh,

Cheer up! The US of A has some pretty nice parts to it!

About 18 months ago, we really stuck our necks out and found a really special place. Really a MAJOR step backwards in house and we are a SITCOM now. But the property has enough to offer and may even turn some bucks for us in the future.

Life is all about chance, risk, place and time. When the RIGHT thing happens, especially with land. You will feel it in your soul. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You guys were right we did find some new land. Its not as large as a parcel but is sure fits us much better about half the size. I am very happy about the new place. We close in 3 weeks or so. Cant wait to get out there of course alot of "work" to be done.

Wife wants to move out there pretty qucik within the next 2-4 years.. Better start cleaning up our current place getting it ready for sale.
