OK, so it 's not a tractor question but I couldn't find any bucket truck specific forums. Besides, guys here own all kinds of equipment and have all kind of experiences.
Anyway, I have an Altec AT200A aerial lift. Hydraulics operated by an electric motor. Yesterday it quit working. Messed with batteries, made sure they were charged, etc. Even replaced one of the two. Upon further inspection with the arrival of a helper I could hear the solenoid click on the electric motor (similar to a starter) when he pushed the dead man switch. A rap with a ratchet would make the motor spin. Without tapping it, just a click.
Today I swapped out the solenoid as the old one didn't look that great from being outside with only a rudimentary cover. Same result as before. Just a click until I rapped on the solenoid or the motor. Is this an indication of something heading south in the motor? For the record, I ordered a complete unit next day air (pump/motor/solenoid) today from Altec because I need this truck for work. They certainly don't give that away!:moneybag:
I plan on taking the motor to a local rebuilder once the new one is on so that I'll have a spare. So I guess the question remains, is this likely an electric motor issue?
