- BF Avery A
Here are some parts I got made in Thailand for my dad's BF Avery A and his friend's 1951 Porsche.
My dad's tractor was missing the left brake pedal, we took photos of the other BF Avery we found in Sweden and when back home I got busy with car plaster to make a copy of it.
Ten hours later I had this
We had also picked up a front wheel hub from my dad's friend's place, it is from a Porsche (Algaier) 1951 the only year that had this type of hub as they found that they cracked and broke, and that was the problem that my dad's friend had as well, both hubs were cracked and had all the pieces missing.
As we were not really sure what the hubs had once looked like I made a drawing to 1:1 scale and we agreed that was close enough, I then cast the missing pieces using car plaster.
I found a foundry close to where I live in Thailand and I gave them the "masters" for copying, one week later I went to pick up the parts.
The ç™»riginal in car plaster is the bottom item, the upper is the freshly cast pedal.
The brake pedal mould must have been poorly closed because it is a bit rough around the edges, not too bad though and I guess I will just have to get busy with the grinder. The two wheel hubs were fine even though the center on one of them was a bit off, still usable though so no big deal.
The total bill from the foundry including machining the hubs was about USD 100, not bad at all!
I also had the generator re-wound in Thailand for about USD 35, they did an excellent job of it!
