Tractor
Mahindra 2015 gear
Taken last night at the 12,000lb to 15,000 lbs tractor pull.
Most of these are Mod Farm tractors with juiced up motors.

This guy got the biggest cheer as he did pretty well for being outclassed.

Those open station 66 series IH's have to be the most handsome tractor ever built. (note I DIDN'T say "PRETTY") Not bad pullers either! The 1066's usually make a better puller than the 1466.

Thanks for the pictures!

I loved that Black Strip 1466! A kid pulled it in the 15,000lb class but had it in to high of a gear, didn't make it to far.

What makes the 1066 a better puller?

From what I've been told, the 1066 can make just as much power but the rear end is lighter without sacrificing any strength. Lighter equals ballast added where you NEED it and not where the IH foundry decided to pour it. The 1066 was probably the best tractor IH ever built. The 125 hp range was the big seller for all brands back then. Deere and IH poured the effort into making their 125hp tractors the best in the fleet. (1066/1086 and 4430/4440)

I think I would stick to pulling stock smaller tractors, seems far more cost effective! Some of these guys have a bunch tied up in their tractors.

my uncle ran two of those (1066 and a 1086) for many a year on his cattle operation. one of the first tractors i ever learned to drive. you rarely find one that's in decent shape, or not set up for tractor pulling anymore. i know a handful of old timers around here with some 66's but you can't pry them away from them. if i could go back in time...and had the money....i would have bought both of my uncle's IH after he passed and the farm was up for sale.
