Some folks had asked eariler about FEL hydrauilic leak down. Well here's my bucket almost full of water. I lined up the water line even with the side skirt of the bucket so I could see any droop easily

A bit of a side slope here, so I could have gotten more in if I had turned the whole tractor around, but it held this much water for twenty minutes with no measurable droop with the engine idling.

Then I turned the engine off and two hours later it had drooped so that the back edge of the bucket side skirt was an inch or so above the water line, and it was slowly tricklying water out the side of the bucket. Maybe it had drooped six inches or so.

I didn't have time to wait to see how long it would take to get to the ground.

Thank you for the info. You have given me some ammunition to take to my dealer and say "Here, it's not supposed to leak as fast as mine." Mine would leak more than that empty.

Great Pics! That looks like a heck of a box blade. Some frontier implements came w/ my 790. Is that JD's brand of choice or do they just come green. How much can you expect to pay for one that nice?

What is the black worm climbing up the strut on the back blade?

Thanks for posting the pictures, by the way. You never need a reason. We always like pictures.

it is the container for your operators manual on the strut

As to what it cost:

I guess I got a pretty good deal for the tractor, but probably paid about list for the accessories.

$8300 - JD790, 1319 hours, light nursery duty, no leaks
$2600 - JD419 FEL w/ 61" HD bucket, new, installed
$625 - 65" Frontier BB1065 Boxblade, new, 537 pounds of steel
$600 - Edwards LF800 loader forks
$12525 - Total

Also included in the deal:
- Complete lube and service to the tractor, all fluids, filters, and adjustments
- New battery and cables
- New R4 tires and wheels
- Delivered 20 miles
- New Top Link
- New 3pt Sway Links L&R

The other intangible I got out of buying it where I did: Wonderful folks there. I've got a store full of new friends. Can't speak highly enough of everyone I've dealt with at Lenon Implements in Woodburn Oregon. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Not purchased there, but the other accessory I have is a Jinma Chipper $1550.

Working on adding top and tilt cylinders, ordered the valve and cylinders last week. I'll provide pics and updates as that goes along.

Working on resurecting a Hypertherm Powermax 600 plasma cutter to cut up 1000 pounds of wheel weights for it, and will soon be learning to stick weld with a Miller Thunderbolt AC/DC. Intending to fabricate a trenching plow for laying pipe and conduit. Maybe also a 3PT adapter for my loader forks.

Some day... I may take on the challenge of building a backhoe from CadPlans, but that's a long way in the future.

All of this between working, being a husband and father, active in my church, and going back to college one night a week at the age of 51. So don't expect me to make progress very quickly.

Here's the "yard" we get to play in. I love to fly and took this aerial shot of our place a couple years ago flying with a friend from church.

If you look real close:
- At the extreme right edge in the back pasture you will see a couple dots that are two horses, Maybelle and a boarder Shane who is no longer staying here.
- Moving left you will see a brown strip "sacrifice area" where we let the horses run when the ground is to soggy in winter so they don't destroy the pasture.
- Facing that "run" is a green metal roof over a 16'x24' lean-to awning, attached to a 24'x24' pole barn with two 12'x12' stalls that open to the lean-to.
- Attached to the pole barn is a 30'x36' pole barn workshop with slab floor and a 24' grease. JD790 gets to park out of the weather in the workshop.
- To the left of the workshop is the house and a large area of concrete, including a regulation half-court basketball court.
- The house is three stories, a concrete foundation daylight basement, two feet underground, and six feet above, and two stories of cedar beam Lindel Cedar home, total of 2400 square feet.
- A loop driveway that the 790 is needed for grading, loops around the house and winds down a hill that is much steeper than the picture looks, two more switchback turns not visible to the left off the picture in the trees.
- Below the driveway loop, just slightly left of center of the frame you can see a couple small out-buildings, one almost dead center, and the other a bit more to the left. That one has a 1200 gallon water tank fed from a 600' well near the base of the hill out of frame to the left. You can even see a "scar" in the lawn where we had to replace the branch electric circuit feeding to that building from the house, shortly before this was taken.
- Finally right in front of the water tank building you can see a kind of orange colored strip pointing about 10:30 from the building. That is my 19' long plate of 3/8" structural steel that I am planning to cut into wheel weights. This afternoon I managed to get it moved about half way to the garage/workshop.

In this photo, North is about 5:00 o'clock. Elevation is about 1270 feet, ~1000 feet above surrounding terrain. City of Newberg is due south. Structures at the upper left are the neighbors house, the treeline running diagonallyupper right to lower left are the neighbor's. The total lot we have is about 6 acres, 1060' long and ranging from 180' wide at the road to 375' at the widest, and 240' or so at the extreme right edge. (these from memory, approx.).

This is home. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
