I have some other projects upcomming on the property, I will be sure to post the progress once they begin...
Quail and Pheasant pen is the one I will probably start first in the spring...

I like seeing all the southern IN folks on this board!

My dad and a buddy of mine pulled 2 does and a small 5 pointer off our land this year in a total of about 4 hours of hunting. My dad shot one opening morning that he thought he had missed cleanly. We found it the next afternoon while rabbit hunting. It was only about 200 yards from where he shot it. Beautiful shot but absolutely no signs of a hit to track it. Our 40 acres are lousy with deer, and so is the whole area.

We butchered all 3 ourselves and took most of the meat in to be processed into bologna and sausage. You can alway make friends with a supply of deer sausage on hand! 85 pounds of sausage/bologna, 25 pounds of ground deer, and several sacks of loins, chops, and roasts, good eating!

I like looking at those Indiana deer. We do not grow them that big down here. You might see one with wider or taller horns, but usually not with that much mass to them and you defintely do not see them that heavy around here. I've killed a few that were pushing 200 pounds. My dad and some others I know have killed them in the 240 pound range. But those are they exception. To years ago I killed a nice 10 pointer with a pretty but smallish 15" rack...he only weighed 125 pounds!

I've heard there are some areas in north Georgia that were re-stocked with deer from Michigan and they've got some monsters there too.

Congrats, trophys of a lifetime I'd say!

Kevin,
Those are really great pictures you posted of yourself and your boys. The deer are just frosting on the cake. You must be very proud....Congratulations. It's great to see our hunting heritage continue through our sons and daughters. Keep up the great posts.
