Sound attenuating earmuffs

Has anybody else tried these while operating a tractor? My first experience with them was really weird! The roar of the engine was muted, but there were dozens of little squeaks and rattles I'd never heard before, and the mower had this strange pulsating harmonic quality. Plus the background noise was interesting. Never heard dogs and sheep before while operating the tractor at PTO speed! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I have a set that I've not used in a few years. They were recently uncovered during our move. I'll have to try them on the tractor. Then when the bushhog hits something I'll be sure to hear it!

I have a set of shooters muffs I use at the gun range.. muffles the 'attack' of the muzzle.. but yet I can talk to people next to me.

Do they make a pair that would mufflel the sounds a 2 year old daughter, a 4 month old son and a wife make so I can watch TV????? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I use the ones that where mentioned years ago on TBN. Can't even remember the name, Pro Ears? I use them all the time with the tractor. They help. I also hook a radio up to them which works real well.

I like 'em. The only complaint I have is that its easy to leave the things on a run out the battery or have them turn on when they are getting bounced around the truck. The need a lock out switch but that is a nit.

Hillslider, some people call it finding their center, I call it being in the zone. I will often come out of a trance while the end credits of American Chopper or Amercian Hotrod are rolling to find my three year old daughter, one year old daughter and pregnant wife all looking at me waiting for me to answer an apparently important question that I swear I never heard.

I got the same set that dmccarty has and one thing I've found amusing (and my wife hasn't /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif)...

If I'm sitting on Brutus with engine running and rpm's up, I can hear the wife BETTER with the Pro-ears ON, than with them off. From HER perspective, I'm double insulated from her by machinery noise and hearing protection. SHE hears all the racket, sees me sitting there with my ear muffs on and becomes quite short with me and my unwillingness to remove them to "hear her better" when in fact, I can hear her better with them ON.

(it really IS true)

I've neglected to mention the obvious that I could hear her BEST, if I simply turned the engine off...but for some strange reason, THAT thought never crosses my mind during these conversations!! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

They work GREAT ... I was not expecting them to work so well for $50.00 (compared to $300. models) but I must say I'm quite impressed ... Scozz
