Since I'm pulling out nearly the entire interior of the tractor to add functions to it, I thought I'd sound dampen the cab. And since automotive products like Dynamat cost one zillion dollars, flexible ice and window shielding works almost as well as the real thing at 1/5th the cost. Make sure you get the gooey stuff with the aluminum foil top. The gooey stuff dampened metal panels from acting like a drum while the aluminum reflect ambient noise.

You'll also want to have a roller on hand to make sure you have good contact.

Lol, I was talking to a Scooby074 and I told him I was going to insulate my tractor and he suggested I use mylar insulation. It is on my to do list. It is funny that we are doing similar things to out tractors. It is ridiculous how overpriced the automotive grade stuff is.

Gutted down to bare metal.

And started the slow process of covering everything.

The sticky, aluminum-backed foam gets installed on the inside of panels.

Does the home-boy sound damping work? You tell me.

You are doing a excellent job ! When I did my 5th wheel toy hauler a few years ago. I got it from Soundown ( Soundown - peace and quiet for architectural, marine, & industrial applications ) they do high end stuff. Once installed you can stand directly over Onan Gen set in bedroom and not even hear it with AC off. It has been in RV for several years with no peeling or problems plus you can power wash it. Not cheap but well worth it. Plus they were great to work with on small project like mine, most big companies don't want to work with you unless you spend 100 K plus.

Thanks, nc redneck. The stuff I'm using is on the inexpensive side and not as good as the pro stuff you had installed. Even so, if I can knock down the cab noise by 2 Db, I'll be happy. As it is the glass itself is where most of the noise is coming through and there isn't much I can do about that. All I have left to do is the righthand side bulkhead now. I'm not going to do the floorpan under the seat right now because I plan to add an airseat in the future and don't want to fight the gooey stuff installing the new seat later on.

Today I finished the right side bulkhead and then turned my attention to other planned projects.

I have to say its a creative solution. Im curious as to how much attenuation you get. Dynamat is a bit thicker from what Ive seen in your pics

I just wear a $20 pair of Peltor ear muffs or $30 Howard Leigh ear muffs with internal speakers so I can listen to music while working! :)

Is this one of those threads where you completely tear the brand new machine down to customize it?

If so here's my list:
First and foremost a turbocharger, even if it doesn't work it just has to make noise and whistle so you feel good about your purchase. I remember my G.I. Joe Jeep from 1965 GI Joe Jeep for Action Soldier Figures@ MySite4U.com with the engine noisemaker under the hood powered by 2 D cells.

Second I'd like you to have an adult beverage holder tilt-o-meter combo unit like those used on pleasure bots that swivel. Maybe a pointer off the bottom could show you when you are about to tip her.....the machine not the beer, urr maybe both.

Third a toilet paper holder mounted so you can grab quickly for ummm .... #2 ^^^ above :)

Fred, nice work.

Fred, nice work.

Thanks, for the suggestions but your toilet paper holder conflicts with where I hope to install the soda fountain and I thought I'd continue to **** in your foyer and kitchen drawers when you're not looking.

The tractor comes from the factory with a turbo and my 1942 Ford Army Jeep is perfect already.
