Tractor shop.. the jan/feb 08 issue.

it's a pretty flattering shot. Wish i would have washed her down and got the tires nice and black and clean before the pic.. but it is what it is.

thanks for noticing guys.

That's really a nice pat on the back, isn't it.

I would love to see a photo too. I don't see that magazine around here.

They unfortunately don't post the mag cover pages on their website.. however here is the pic they used and cropped for the front cover.

Good pic. I had just slapped tires back on the front when this pic was taken.

Wish i had washed my hands better.. i got paint ont he rear tires from handling them.. shoulda washer her down and then put some tire black onher.. oh well..

Long story, but back a few years ago i was looking to get a ford 5000 so I could use a 10' mower and save some time mowing. I found a nice one for 8K$ at a local tractor mechanic.. but when i went to buy it he had loaned it out to a guy while he was working on the guy's 6610II.. .. ironically the guy decided to buy the 5000 and solde the 6610II tot he mechanic.. go figure. I ended up buying a 7610s at the local dealer up the road and traded in my 1920 on it... ( Wish i would have kept the 1920 and just got the 5000... ).

In any case I was still looking for a 5000 to mess with.. a couple years passed and I had driven out to see quite a few real beaters. Finally found one in georgia.. took a leap of faith and bought sight unseen and had it hauled in. Messed with it on weekends for a few months getting it cleaned up and fixing the warts on it.. then did a scramble on it the week before thanksgiving to get it finished for thanksgiving day. Pulled a hay ride with it a week later... yada yada yada... Now it's my official hay ride puller. Previous to that i use dmy 8n or naa to pull the hay ride.. I like the big diesel better. It's a late 1975 model.. so it has the improved power steering and the larger engine, and the open sump hyds/tranny/diffy like a 5600 vs the individual sumps of the early and mid late 5000.

speaking of magazines.. I think I got something in antique power this issue as well.

Chris, I am wondering if he wanted to know how you managed to get on the cover of Tractor Shop? Who did you have to bribe;)

You should have bought that 6610-II:)
