it's a pretty flattering shot. Wish i would have washed her down and got the tires nice and black and clean before the pic.. but it is what it is.

Soundguy said:Long story, but back a few years ago i was looking to get a ford 5000 so I could use a 10' mower and save some time mowing. I found a nice one for 8K$ at a local tractor mechanic.. but when i went to buy it he had loaned it out to a guy while he was working on the guy's 6610II.. .. ironically the guy decided to buy the 5000 and solde the 6610II tot he mechanic.. go figure. I ended up buying a 7610s at the local dealer up the road and traded in my 1920 on it... ( Wish i would have kept the 1920 and just got the 5000... ).
In any case I was still looking for a 5000 to mess with.. a couple years passed and I had driven out to see quite a few real beaters. Finally found one in georgia.. took a leap of faith and bought sight unseen and had it hauled in. Messed with it on weekends for a few months getting it cleaned up and fixing the warts on it.. then did a scramble on it the week before thanksgiving to get it finished for thanksgiving day. Pulled a hay ride with it a week later... yada yada yada... Now it's my official hay ride puller. Previous to that i use dmy 8n or naa to pull the hay ride.. I like the big diesel better. It's a late 1975 model.. so it has the improved power steering and the larger engine, and the open sump hyds/tranny/diffy like a 5600 vs the individual sumps of the early and mid late 5000.
speaking of magazines.. I think I got something in antique power this issue as well.
