source for hydraulic top link?

I would like to put a hydraulic top link on my ford 335 tractor but the quote for a 2 1/2" x 21-31" two-way cylinder with flow restrictors is out of my price range ($360) so wonder if anyone can point me to a less expensive option.....the ideal would be in or near SE Iowa to avoid shipping costs. any suggestions or references would be appreciated.

I have a Fitrite hydraulic top link and it is a great unit. Mine is bigger than what you want, so I have no idea of price.

Here are some other options:

Hitches: 2PT and 3PT

That is a fairly common top link size/stroke, should not be hard to find something off the shelf.

i just use a hydraulic cylinder on mine.RICK

I'm very happy with my hydraulic top link from Brian at fit right hydraulics. Order quickly though it takes a while to get it.

These Italian made ones come with double piloted check valves. Prevent creep and will not drop if a hose is blown when overloaded.

I needed an o-ring for the end cap on one these cylinders and was quoted $4.95 + shipping...for a single (tiny dia.) o-ring...

I also shopped around to learn and price and I found a lot of junk out there. You must dig into their specifications to see what it really is. Its the engineer in me. Brian's unit is top quality and I know from buying other products, he stands behind his work.

Has anyone mentioned Fit Rite yet?

Brian does a great job and custom builds your cylinder if needed. He also stands behind his work and offers a fair price. Definitely the person to contact for top and side links and other hydraulic needs.

The price that is too much, is from me, minus shipping costs. The guy just needs something for less money. The thing is, to get what he "should" have size wise with hoses and couplers simply costs some money. Include the flow restrictors and it is just that much more vs the competitors. He may need to have to settle for something smaller and hope that he gets by.

Just one of those things, you can't give it away and stay in business very long.

Thank you to everyone for recommending me, I just don't think that I'm going to be able to help this guy out though.

It's probably close to five years since I've added T&T...and when I was shopping we traded some posts (maybe PMs?) and I came very close to ordering a top link from you and it only came down to delivery date...I was very anxious...in hindsight I wish I would have gotten my top link from Fit Rite Hydraulics - fitritehydraulics.com
To date my homemade side link is working well...but in the future I would personally buy from and recommend Fit Rite Hydraulics - fitritehydraulics.com...before I made another one...

I was referring to a custom SIDE link...!
Why?...mostly because I can save more money doing more important things...it was a good experience and can reliably employ the same techniques welding on cylinders in the future...but I didn't then and still don't have an inside shop with a solid floor with stable table etc...

You've done it [edit] a top link is not the same as a custom side link[/edit]...a side link can be hard to hold/clamp etc..and get both ends at the correct angle w/access to the ports etc...it takes a lot of time and I could do it again but like I said...for the money/time...I'd go with Fit Rite Hydraulics - fitritehydraulics.com :thumbsup: :thumbsup:
