I'd like to find a source for guality weld or bolt on, 3/8 inch chain grab hooks. I'm going to mount some on my kubota L35 loader bucket and I'm very willing to spend extra for guality materials and workmanship.

There's alot of junk being marketed out there and I'd like to avoid it. I know, I'm from the past century.

I am not familiar with the L35. I have a BX25 which is a compact tractor. I use D ring type bolt ons, one above the center line tilt cylinder and one below. The BX 25 has pretty lite weight FEL with only one tilt cylinder. Looking at the dynamics of the situation with lifting heavy loads I determined I could twist the FEL booms if loading is off center any especially if lifting more that a foot or so. The higher the worse it gets. The center has a doubler plate the full width of the back of the bucket so is the strongest area, that also is the closet point to the fulcrum pins. I have fork attachments for the leading edge of the bucket but due to the added reach the forks will not lift as much as the bucket contents curled back. My arrangement allows me to tip the bucket straight down and lift from the front or curl all the way up and lift from the bottem w/o touching the cylinder. I figure I can lift one third more weight on a chain or strap as the front of the bucket will with hooks at the top as I seen advertised or shown in some of the posts. This is without abusing my equipment. If I reach the limit of the hydraulics I am overweight. I always use schakles to attach to the D rings. I learned a lot about rigging in my former career as an industrial pipefitter rigger. We had to plan each lift to take advantage of leverage and other physical precepts for both safety and maximum utilization of the equipment available. Most tractor sideways tipping accidemnts occur with unbalanced loads lifted high or on sloping ground. A side slope can mak a risky operation into a disaster when coupled with an unbalanced load.

Try a Google search for "Truck and Tow" weld-on grab hooks. They have a great catalog with a lot of good equipment. Their prices are a little high but so is the quality.
They have a good selection and the hooks have worked well for me. Sorry, I couldn't add the link to this reply.

I have 2 of Ken's hooks, I would highly recommend them if you want to go the bolt-on route.

Ken's Bolt On Grab Hooks

I put 3 of Ken's hooks on my bucket. I have used them a lot and am quite happy with them. You can see photos of my installation in the following thread:

http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/customization/216064-kens-bolt-grab-hooks.html

I have since bought another pair for my backhoe bucket. I haven't installed them yet, because I discovered that the location where I want to install them is double-walled with some space between. I may try tapping threads for the bolts (therefore no nuts needed in the blind space). That may be fine for lighter use. If that setup is not strong enough, I would still have the option of drilling through the inner wall and putting longer bolts all the way through.

Your dealer should have an ample supply.
