I already have a pto spot sprayer with a 55 gallon drum.
I would like to attach a boom with a spray pattern about 8 to 10 feet wide.
This will be mounted on the existing drum carriage.
I'm thinking a rigid arm maybe 6 feet long with 6 or 7 nozzles.

Does anyone know of a source for an already assembled boom with spray nozzles that might fit the bill?

Any sprayer parts from a farm store will likely handle any flow from the pump. The last tee-jets I bought, there were stainless steel available. The filters and jets (in a couple different degrees like 80 and 110 to choose from) were along with the other parts needed to make up a boom. The one I made was 1" square tubing with predrilled holes. Brackets are available to attach to the boom and all other fittings there as well.

hi "40_acre_mule",

Applying chemicals is a touchy topic because of the research needed to apply any chemical according to its label. The Label is the LAW, non-compliance (over applying) is punishable by LAW. Some States go as far to Regulate Sales that require training.

Any Spray Boom System's pressure and Gallon Per Minute needs are primarily determined by the nozzles (spray tips). Most every nozzle GPM rating is calculated at 40 PSI, ex: TeeJet TP8003 , the 80 designates 80 degree spray fan width, 03 designates 0.3 GPM at 40 PSI.

There are many variables to be considered for calculating the proper application. A few are the travel speed, total nozzle output at GPM and the percentage of chemical to water mix. The Chemicals are supplied with documentation for the proper application rates. TeeJet provides nozzle GPM and travel speed as part of their nozzle documentation to calculate the GPA (Gallons Per Acre).

Perhaps a pressure gauge would be useful on your system. Also lower pressures will spray better in mild wind, larger droplets = less drift.

Sure they will seeings how the maximum recommended nozzle pressure is 60 PSI. PTO pumps must be regulated for use in most any spray application.

Sorry for rambling and jumping around, there is just so much material to be covered for a complete and accurate suggestion.

Good Luck

Will this handle the pressure from a Hypro 6500C pto driven pump?
I do have a pressure regulator on my system.
Still, I'm concerned about the ability of the plastic parts to handle the flow.

No prob with plastic spray parts and the rubber hoses that carry the fluid is simply sprayer hose. There might be two pressures but either is OK.
I spray at only 10-15PSI and at a slower speed so I have less drift that can cause collateral damage to friendly plants. There are droplet spray tips but lower PSI has worked for me for 25 years.
The pump is putting out way more pressure but the regulator controls it just fine. And mine is low-end plastic.
Just my two cents.

Let me give y'all more details...

We have about 25 acres of cleared fields. No crops, just regular mowing.
A few years ago, the county was resurfacing a bunch of roads. They hauled in dirt to dress up the edges of the roads. Well, the dirt was contaminated with an invasive weed called Cogongrass.
http://www.cogongrass.org/cogongrassid.pdf

Since we were unfamiliar with it, we didn't really notice until it was well established. Now it covers nearly 10 to 12 acres.
So, the county is gonna give us a bunch of stuff called Arsenal. We'll probably need to treat this stuff for a couple of years. I know we'll need to apply kinda heavy to kill this stuff.
I expect to travel back and forth, spraying large 3 to 4 acres spots and a handful of spots about 20ft X 20ft.

My sprayer uses a pto driven Hypro 6500 (9.7 gpm @ 540 rpm). The max speed is 1200 rpm and the max press. is 150 psi. The system also has a regulator rated for up to 250 psi, but I don't know what the minimum setting is.

I also found these kits:
Rittenhouse | Weed Spray Boom Kit

Rittenhouse | Tree / Shrub High Pressure Boom Kit

I assume my system will feed the high pressure kit with no problem with the pto rpms up.
And I guess the system will NOT overpower the low pressure kit with the speed down and the regulator set low.

But, I have no experience with boom sprayers/flow rates/pressures/dispersion rates or spray patterns.
I will greatly appreciate anything I can learn from y'all.

You don't have to run at 540 PTO speed. I don't think I ever have.
Your approach will be an inexact science so it will be fine.
You can look up the nozzles and tractor speed and make a pretty good guess at things.
As well, if you don't have a cab, wear the correct respirator and wash clothes and you afterwards.

edit
I would probably spray at 10-15 psi and get that by slower PTO speed and regulated pressure.
Too high of pressure and that stuff--research it--will drift everywhere.
Dye in the tank would pay for itself since a small boom will cause a lot of overlap.

Even better, maybe you or the town could just hire a local guy to spray it and solve all the problems.
