SCB,
Please post a picture of your deck. I would like to know what brand of stain you are using that holds up against cloirine.
I live in a log home and to kill mold and remove old stain before reapplying new stain, I use 1qt bleach, 3 qts worm water and 1tablespoon of tsp. If it doesn't eat the stain off before powerwashing, I go to 50% bleach.
In about 2 more years when you are running out of the tub in January and you get 1 to 2 inch splinter in your foot, or the next time you are cleaning and restaining, think about a synthetic top surfice. It is about the same cost a ceader but no mantanance. The colors and textures are so nice now that I am going to use it when I redue my front deck in 4 years.
