I think the majority are not quite sure what you're looking for, based on your terminology (spanner). Presuming you were from the UK, Australia or New Zealand, I figured that you were looking for a 'wrench'. I too googled 'spanner wrench' and it appears that Harbour Freight has a significant selection for your needs, so here's the link...

Search results for: 'spanner wrenches'

Now, if you are living in the afore mentioned countries, you should go to your local hardware/tool store and seek the appropriate spanner. Here in North America, we generally refer to these tools as 'wrenches'. Some are open end, some are box end, some are adjustable. Best to describe what you need to your local supplier and she/he should be able to assist.

Good luck...

Not from uk. From Texas. That's what he called it. I googled it & found several but most have round pins & his Massey has square pins. I'll check harbor freight. Thanks

If you can, find out what SPECIFICALLY he plans on using this spanner for.

Massey Ferguson, being deeply rooted in the UK at one point, refers to common open end wrenches as "spanners". There is even one particular spanner, known as a "plow spanner" that is somewhat collectible. (I've got a few of 'em) It's an open end wrench with graduated inch marks on its length. It's used to make adjustments to a Ferguson/Massey Ferguson plow, as well as to measure plowing depth.

Another spanner that comes to mind is used to pre-load the draft control spring lock nuts. It does have "square" teeth which the spanner engages.

A round pin will fit in a square hole. If its a good fit and the nut isn't super tight it should work.
