I found a set screw on my forward magnetic plug when I was changing transmission fluid. I am thinking this was dropped during installation and another one installed. The service manager where I bought the 6520 (he has opened his own shop now) thinks it goes on a shifter indent. He said he wasn't surprised. So I guess this kind of thing has happened before. Since I don't have any shifting problems, I think this is an "extra" setscrew. I sure hope it is. My hour meter is at 497.5 hours. Also, my rear axle fluid is suppose to be separate from transmission fluid. I suppose to have a drain plug on each side and add fluid after removing the left and right axle breathers. The problem is ...........there are no plugs where the ops manual photo shows them. I also seem to be missing the second from the front plug also:eek:, which is not a bad thing, except no magnet. It is like these three plugs were never drilled and tapped. The flat spot is there for them, but just flat surface. So now I will have suck the fluid out to change it. The ex service manager also said to drop a magnet in to see if any metal is there.;) The problem with that is there is 3 inch diameter or so axle blocking the magnet's access.:( I will present this all to Tomball and my dealer on Monday.

I told Top Flight about my extra set screw this morning. They documented it in the computer and gave me a print out on it. Now if something goes wrong and the shifter is to blame, I will have something to fall back on.

Extra parts are never good when you find them in the bottom of an oil pan. Even if the screw was replaced by the mechanic, he should have never sent the machine out until that screw was found. Problem with that is nowadays, good help is hard to find, and a good dealer knows it. Hopefully it doesn't end up being a problem!

My dealer's mechanic says he sees this a lot because the guys that assemble the machines know the magnetic plugs will catch them if dropped. Being a mechanic, I am really not concerned with finding an unused setscrew on a magnetic plug.;) Now if it was accompanied with metal shavings and the setscrew looked like it went through a meat grinder...........then I would be really

Brandi, what did the dealer say about the other drain plugs the manual shows and you don't have? That seems way strange to me.

After I take photos this weekend, I will show them and fire the photos off to Tomball along with the photo from the manual.

I realized the operator's manual that I have was given to me when I ordered the tractor.:( It was an extra in the office, so I think the manual I have is for an earlier model 6520. The manual has a reference to June 05, so I guess it is two years older than my 6520.:( I will take photos and ask Tomball about it.:(
