Spare tire carrier

I have a 10 ft landscape type trailer used to tow my Mule.

I bought a spare tire mount at TSC today and was a Pain to put on. I was trying to mount it on the front corner of the trailer which is angle stock. Instr say you can do it but fooled with it for an hour.

any others out there that will mount to angle stock?

slip a piece of square stock into the angle...under the bracket.. makes it a bit easier. I have one on a 4x6 trailer like that... horse trailer too.. has an angle iron bracket on the side for a spare..

I never buy them, just make my own with some scrap steel and 2 wheel studs/lug nuts.

I had a short tow axle spindle welded on the front of the trailer then put a full trailer hub kit on that. It holds the spare tire, and if I have any problems with the actual hub, bearings, etc, have a ready set to use.

hey nice... just runt he castle nut off and an entire hub is ready. too bad you couldn't use the spindle too. might slip a 2 part squeezum not ont here as en emergency to fix a stripped thread.. good idea.. thanks fro posting..

I have seen a guy take a piece of plate steel maybe 3/8" thick. Drill it to the same specs as the mounting bracket for the brake and a large hole in the center, weld on a piece of tubing to go over the damaged spindle, weld on a new spindle, gusset it, and then mount up a whole assembly as a spare carrier.

If you ever spin a bearing or damage a spindle, take it off, remove the brake, slip it over, bolt it down and go till repairs can be made.
