I built this monster several years ago when I was floored by the price of a truly big vise. The curved part of the jaws were cut from a discarded welding tank and I welded several reinforcement plates on the inside of the curve extending to the jaw. The screw is a inch and a half machine leveler. The rest is just scrap I had on hand. Someday...I hope to get around to welding a nut on the handle so I can run it in and out with my impact gun. It comes in handy if I ever need to weld on a five gallon bucket.

That is an awesome job and you're right, it's a monster!! A good vice is very expensive. I can't imagine what a brand name vice that size would set you back? Again, you did an excellent job...what are the dimensions on this beast and what tasks do you use it for?

Nice build it yourself monster garage vice you got there. It's huge, I like it allot. Looks like you've use it quite a bit over the years.
