Re: Speaking Of Handgun\'s

( He didn't and he prepared himself as if I was. I have no trouble with that but when he get's on a power trip and brag's about what he almost did then I have a problem. )

That's it. Not the fact that he was prepared, but the fact that he ran his mouth about it. If a cop did that, he should be disciplined. And probably fired. Same for private security.

In my experience, most rent-a-cops are either:

[*]Retired. (A mixed bag, but mostly harmless.)
[*]College students. (Mostly harmless.)
[*]Wannabes who couldn't make it into law enforcement.

This last group is dangerous.

Re: Speaking Of Handgun\'s

WhyNot,

After thinking about this over night....

I would report his fanny to his company. He is a danger to the public. Should the guard be aware of his surroundings? Absolutely. Did you have a weapon or anything like a weapon?

I am assuming no.

So this jerk goes for his gun because you are in tight quarters? What did you do or carry that he thought you were a deadly threat.

I can't tell from your note if he had dropped off money and was on the way out or if he was picking up and was leaving. Regardless, even with money, you in no way shape or form, where a deadly threat to him. For him to draw his weapon it has to be prevent deadly force against him. What did you do or have in hand that would make him think you were a deadly threat?

Even if you HAD tried to grab the money and run he does not get to shoot. How is his life endangered if you grab the money and run? Its not. If he does shoot in those circumstances he is in deep trouble. His company is in deep trouble.

Use of deadly force is sorta going to depend on state law but the Supremes add their weight to what can and cannot be done. Certainly if this guy was a LEO there is a problem. I would be shocked if your state would allow a security guard a lower threshold to use deadly force compared to a LEO. And if I owned a security company or was a guard I danged well don't want to be the test case to find out the law is unconstitutional.

Call the company. Let them handle it.

Years ago I worked a summer job in a very large and wealthy development for Snow Birds. The place had gate access and armed security guards. One day a guy stoned out of his mind on crack ran naked past the gate into the development onto one of the golf courses. One of the security guards popped off some rounds at the dude. The guard was fired. I think the man died from too much crack. While the man was certainly a threat he was not a deadly threat to anyone at that moment and he was being pursued by guards and eventually the police. There was no need to shoot at the man.

Re: Speaking Of Handgun\'s

I would definitely call the company and complain. You could be doing them a favor. The last thing that company wants is a moron on a power trip shooting someone. The guard is obviously lacking in other areas. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Re: Speaking Of Handgun\'s

I stopped by the store today to grab something to drink and the manager was there and he told me he wrote a complaint himself to the company. I did not ask who he was or the company he was working for. He said he did not need that in his store. So I will leave it at that since the store is part of a major chain I imagine that the driver's company will not take it to lightly. As far as what I was carrying all I had was a hard hat on my noggin and my hand's out to my side's not even in my pocket's. I have just wrote it off as another adventure in working with the public. On a side note to that I used to enjoy large crowd's and being around people now after 5 year's at my curent full time job I would just rather be by myself or a couple of close friend's at night or on the weekend's

Re: Speaking Of Handgun\'s

WhyNot,

That is goodness that the manager complained. He would have been dragged into court if that idiot guard had done something.

Wait a few more years and you might just drop your friends from the list. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I just want to go home and be with my family. Get my chores done so I can spend time with the kids and wifey. I have no desire to see movies, go to town, or even eat in most resteraunts anymore. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Now mind you he had to squeeze by the ladder to get to the manager and the safe which is only about 5 ft from the ladder.

Re: Speaking Of Handgun\'s

When I was a young man ,many moons ago I worked in a JC Penny store.Caught the uniformed security guard stealing belts, of all things. The store didn't prosecute but notified his employer,a large well respected firm.Saw the same guard 2 weeks later working in a different Dept. store, same security agency.I guess good help is hard to find.
