Special Edition seat

Wow, this is a great thread. It looks like I'll be ordering up a special edition seat for my 2210. Thanks guys!

When we first bought our horse farm in May '05, I had only the 2210 w/ 62C belly deck. I was recovering about 18 mismanaged and sloped pastures with the 2210, mowing everything with the belly deck and let me tell you after 8 or 9 hours mowing bumpy pastures with the 2210 and it's spine crushing seat I was heavy into the Ibuprofen! After six months I bought a 3520 w/ a MX-5 rotary cutter and my doctor says someday I'll be able to walk upright again, har har. Seriously though I love my 2210 for mowing lawns and smaller grunt work. It's more sure-footed than my 3520 on smaller jobs.

Sean,

The special edition seat has all the bells and whistles, lumbar adjustment, folding arm rest and the weight ride adjustment, which let you adjust to your own body weight. If don't want to go the $500.00 plus for the special edition seat, the stock X-series seat and suspension will work to for around $130.00. The seat has a higher back and the suspension has a heavy spring in it to soften the ride. It's a big step up in comfort from the stock 2210 seat. Both seats will give you a better ride over the stock seat.

Lobo56, thanks for the tip! I'll likely opt for the X-Series because I'm not mowing pastures with my belly deck and 2210 any longer. The $500 seat sounds nice but the armrest and weight adjustment is overkill for the 2210 now.

The 3520's "weight adjustment" is slightly problematic for me. If I keep it soft and generally comfortable I bottom out on the big bumps and that's almost worse than no spring action at all, at least according to my L1 vertebrae ;) If I keep it too tight - and in turn high enough - to avoid bottoming out I feel like I'm slightly too high and seat balance is more challenging especially at my, er, somewhat faster than average bush hogging speeds. Maybe if my parents were Dutch and German rather than Indian and French I'd have longer legs and a shorter torso for my weight and I wouldn't have this trouble ;)

If you want to do some searching, my se seat was made by the Michigan seat company. Might find the same version cheaper somewhere. JC

So where can we see the seat itself? I would assume that I could adapt it to my air seat suspension???

FWIW, the air seat suspension works extremely well for me and allows excellent adjustabilty. There's just time where I wish I had lumbar support and armrests...
