Can anyone confirm or deny the need for a "special" tire pressure gage to check loaded tires? I am using beet juice so it shouldn't be corrosive. Thanks

If the stem were below the level of the liquid, it would need to be water proof.
Excepting that (stem above level) it's still just air pressure. Gravity would effect the liquid, weight etc. below that level in addition to the pressure. But we're too smart to try reading the pressure there a second time - right?

Not corrosive, but it is sticky. I have ruined a gauge or two with the RimGuard. You need to be careful, get the valve stem at "12 o'clock", let out a little air to hopefully purge any remaining 'juice' out of the valve stem and hopefully be able to check 'just air'. I had one tire that seemed to be just a bit overfull and it took a few times to get 'just air' out of the valve stem when checking pressure. It didn't take much of the beet juice to muck up the pressure gauge.

But, I don't think you would do any better with a gauge designed for the CaCl filled tires. Sticky is sticky.

Smweatherman is right - they make liquid gauges for CaCl filled tires but and we rinse them after use but I do believe sticky beet juice would muck them up. Best like he says - bring to top center, burp out a little air to purge the stem of liquid, and use a standard gauge.

I have several from the local farm store when they cleared them out, they carry more clothing then tractors now.
The liquid tire gauges have a spring loaded plunger that returns the gauge back to zero and usually you can tell them by the end of the plunger that has a small knob on the end so you can pull it out. After checking the tire pressure I dip the head in some clear water and pull the plunger out a couple of times to flush for next use. The calcium corodes the gauge if not cleaned and the RimGuard just gums them up when it dries.
