I was wondering if any of you veteran no tillers have seen any downsides to spike or posi closing wheels vs. conventional rubber on a corn planter. I am thinking of making this upgrade but am just wondering if there are any potential drawbacks. I plant into anything from soft soybean stubble to tough wheat stubble

My brother switched to the spike closers this past spring, he said he would NEVER go back to the steel/rubber wheels, no drawbacks according to him. Claims it closed better in all soil conditions. He no tills soybeans and corn in some pretty sticky (clay) soil and says they allow him to plant in less than ideal conditions.

Good luck!
