I have a droopy bucket from stump removal as well. Not really bad, but bad enough that when it comes to replacing the wear-edge, I'm probably going to spring for a whole new bucket.
Having removed stumps both ways, a BH is absolutely no question the way to go. I totally agree that you CAN remove them with only the loader, but it has two major negatives:
First, the "area of destruction" is many, many times greater with the loader...while the BH is almost surgical in that you are basically creating a 1' wide trench around the tree in question, the loader requires you to dig down on the sides with 4' wide swaths. Then you're pretty lucky to cut through roots, so you're down there with the axe an awful lot. And good luck if you're on a Pine with a good tap-root network.
Second: The only way I could pull out root balls was get as many roots as I could, hook my tractor up to the root with my 12 ton strap, and start a-yankin'. It was VERY, VERY hard on my tractor and my wife watching me do it (along with the heavy manual labor) was a huge selling point in the BH.
If you only have 2 trees to take up and you've done one of them, I guess there isn't much of a reason to fart around with a BH for that task. In my case, I've taken 6 or 8 good size trees up a year for 2 years now on my property alone. And I've helped some other guys. My tractor would live a short and difficult life had I not added a BH. And it is SOOOOOOO nice for a great many other tasks.
