I'm sure a lot of you know this but...
I bought a backpack sprayer from hft last year for 16.99 with a coupon. As we all know some of their stuff is not so great. This one looked a lot like some of the ones selling for much more. They were selling them so cheap because the lower strap clip wouldn't stay on the tank. I finally got around to trying it out today. 2 cents wort of screws fixed the strap problem.
I'm not someone who really likes to use chemicals. I figure spot spraying does the least harm so I like to do it that way. I regularly patrol my pasture for mesquite, prickly pear, winged elm, oaks and this year, canadian thistle. Up to now I have been using various pump up sprayers to do the job. It is backbreaking work, bending over, spraying and pumping. It also gets to your arm carrying around a 3 gal sprayer(25#) for hours at a time. I have a 25 gal electric 4 wheeler sprayer but I don't find it mobile enough and usually don't have time to use as much mix as I want to make.
What I found out today is how nice it is to have a backpack sprayer. No bending, pumping is done all the time and I moved 3X faster than I usually do. I got so much done. I put out 6 gal today while my wife did 2 with a standard sprayer. I let here try it out and now it's gone forever. The strap system on this unit needs some padding work but it works as is.
Hummers like the Canadian thistle so I kinda let it get out of control. It had started to pop up everywhere and we put a big dent in it today. This post was for those of you who spot spray like me and may need one of these. I will never be without one again. 100.00 doesn't look like a lot of money for one anymore for a BP sprayer. It's worth it to not spend the day bent over.
