hi, i'm new to the farming and i'm learning while i go along. i need a sprayer for my tractor which i already decided on which is a rural king 60 gal 3pt sprayer

Rural King 60 Gallon 3 Point Sprayer S3A-24-060N-RK America's Farm & Home Store

the question comes down to what type of pump do i need? theres 300 dollars one and a 150 dollar one. i would like to spend on the 150 dollar one but is the 300 dollar on really that much better? is there any other part i'm missing that i need to use this setup?

when my dad walked into a rural king they said he has to get this
Delavan 6 Roller Pro Stainless Steel Diamond Series Pump 6900DS America's Farm & Home Store

but why not this? it almost seems the same thing. Delavan 6 Roller Pro Cast Iron Pump Kit DPK-6900C America's Farm & Home Store

can someone familiar about roller pumps post some info?

the sprayer is going to be used to spray blueberries.

I believe the answer is going to be it depends on what chemicals you are running through it. For instance the cheaper pump is probably not recommended for Round-up. You can probably check the manufacturer's web site and/or call them.

You might want to also check prices at AgriSupply. They are in they Carolinas, but when I bought a smaller pump and tank, it was cheaper to get it through them and pay shipping than to buy it locally. The one in the attached link looks to be the same as your cheaper one but for less.

I agree that you need to look at how the particular pump will stand up to the chemicals you will be using. A cast iron pump won't like roundup. You're paying for those coatings on the pump that protect it from the chemicals you will be using. So the pump you choose should be based on the chemicals you're going to spray.

The best TBN tip about sprayers I got was to flush the pump and put vegetable oil in it after each use. That will help your pump live longer.

Sorry to be clueless, but I don't know if those are corrosive or not. I think that's what you have to find out to pick a pump.

Even if you are running pure water through the pump, you still want to drain it and lubricate it after use. A cast iron pump will rust up and get stuck if you don't.

I've got a 100 gallons sprayer with 8 roller pump cast iron Delavan pump. You can use Roundup and the generic Roundup with the cast iron pumps as long as you rinse, decontaminate and lubericate the pump after using it.

Most chemicals will have a recommended clean up process in the instructions.
