I am trying to find a quality sprayer unit to set in the back of my XUV. I want to stay around 60 gallons. Trying to find anything on the web other than FIMCO is nearly impossible. The others you do find are $$$ expensive!

Mostly I want to be able to spray fence rows with it, but will probably get a boom for it while I am purchasing just in case I want to spray a larger area like a pasture or yard, but can't justify pulling out the big-boy sprayer from the farm.

Does anyone have much experience with these particular units from FIMCO? Would you recommend them?

Thanks Guys.

I have a fimco 15 and 25 gal sprayer. No problems and have had for a few years and use them on my atv. The pumps in all of these type of sprayers are the weak link and eventually quit working or need new gaskit kits. The pumps can be easily replaced when needed. I flush my pump with clean water after each use. I winterize the pump and hoses with rv antifreeze in the winter (but I am not sure it is mandatory). Store sprayer\pump out of the rain and they last longer.
Some of the newer type booms are relatively small in width but have nozzles than can spray up to a 30 foot swath. Can cover a lot more area that just with a boom that just shoots straight down. However, the nozzle type boom would be more difficult in the wind and have greater drift.

I bought a 20+ gallon Fimco sprayer at TSC this past summer and when I got it home the pump leaked. The design seemed like it was set up to fail but it could of just been my luck. I returned it and bought a 26 gallon sprayer at Northern Tool that I have been very happy with. Have only used it so far to spray Round Up on multiflora roses I have on my property with the wand but there is a boom kit for it that I will eventually get to spray larger areas. I would recommend the sprayer. I believe I paid around $150 for it.

I have a 15 gal Fimco spot sprayer. Has worked good but the pump only lasted a couple of years. I bought a larger replacement one on eBay and that has worked well. I use this one for spraying roundup and once a year I use it with water for controlled burns.

I also have an ATV-25-71. This one I had to put a pump kit in due to leaking. Also, these come with a filter which is basically a garden hose washer with a screen. I had nothing but problems with that so I removed it and put in a regular wire mesh filter (Banjo?). Since I made these changes I have no complaints with it. This one I spray Bicep II/Roundup for the food plots as well as water for controlled burns.

My dad just purchased a sprayer for his XUV from some company in Wabash, IN. I'll try to find out the name for you if you want. I think he is picking it up tomorrow. It is from a company that he bought his farm sprayers from. I don't know the cost, but am guessing it is pretty nice as they build them. I'll post more (pictures?) when I find out.

They have two different electric pumps. Make sure you get the larger one even if you only going to use the wand.

I bet he bought it from Ag-Chem in Wabash. That is where we bought our last farm sprayer as well. I hadn't thought to contact them. I would appreciate any pics or info you could post.

Thanks.

It sounds like you are all satisfied overall with the FIMCO products...after you do some tweaking to the plumbing or replace the pump. Those are managable maintenance operations.

I looked at the 40 gallon Sprayer JD sells as an attachment for the gators. I don't see any added benefit of buying the one from deere other than the boom clips directly on to the tailgate.

Does anyone know of any other brands that I should be looking at?

Take a look at the Hardi sprayers. I've rented one a couple of times. It was a well built unit.
