Spreader vs Sprayer

I've got about 4-5 acres of field and I'm currious for fertilizing or herbicides, what is the the most cost effective method for disribution? A spreader or sprayer?

I use both spreader and sprayer for different applications.

I always went with liquid on first application and had 2-4-D added for the weeds, then I put out my own pellets the rest of the year.

Also during spring every year I would burn off my fields, so I never had a big weed problem.

Guess it boils down to if you have more manure or $. If by what you mean of spreader as in manure spreader. Human manufactured do not interest me at all with them being based on petroleum and do not have the trace elements to put back into the soil to rebuild it not just increase productivity.
