First year with the tractor spreader and am looking at spreading ~45lb of urea over my lawn in spring and fall to feed it.

Questions:

Is urea good enough to feed the lawn on its own? I plan to remulch back in the clippings.
Can anyone recommend a cost effective pre-emergent weed killer to spread with the urea?
Would a spring and fall feeding be enough, what does your lawn weed/feed schedule look like?

I'm cheap so things $10-$40 a bag tend to appeal to me, but I also want something thats going to kick the weeds butts.

Urea is lots of pure nitrogen. Think I'd dilute it about 3 or 4 to 1 with sand and spread it thinly. One feeding in the fall should be enough. In the spring, you're feeding the weeds.

A good pre-emergent would be corn gluten, e.g. corn meal.

Weeds in the lawn are good. Clover is especially good. Dandelions are great. All green doesn't do much for nature.
