For the last several days I have been cleaning and waxing my 38.5' motor home. I have finally managed to remove all the old wax after 4 days and started putting on a new coat of Nufinish wax. Removing the old coating of a polymer floor polish wax (this was recommended by my neighbor and several internet sites) required a buffer and 3000 grit sandpaper.

The floor polish worked well for 3 years with no problems but the sun finally started breaking it down and it looked terrible. So if any one is thinking of using the wet look floor polish, I recommend not to do it unless you keep it under complete sun proof cover. While it is a strictly wipe on and let dry application (4 coats minimum) and it looks great for years, it is a real bear to remove when it starts breaking down. Let me say that I don't have a cover for my motorhome so it is exposed to the sun year round on the front, back and one side so those areas are the only ones that had to be sanded and re-finished. The in-exposed side is still shining great. I suppose that if it was covered, the floor polish wax would be good for 10 years or more which may suit some folks well.

Anyway, that has been my activity for the last few days, only working till the sun got too hot so just a few hours a day. Since doing the motor home, I decided to do the autos also (2 SUV's and a crew cab truck) . Gonna be at least another week of washing and waxing to get it done. Lots of area to cover on the motor home, approximately 930 square feet with at least half of that needing to be done from a ladder.

Sure glad I am not **** about keeping everything spotless and waxed like I see some folks are, my 70 year old body just couldn't handle it and my wallet couldn't handle having someone else do it. The motorhome alone would cost over $400 to clean and paste wax and that doesn't include the cost to remove the floor polish.

Just reading about the amount of work you are doing on your motorhome makes these old shoulders ache. I don't have a motorhome, travel trailer or anything like that. Two vehicles and one tractor are enough. I wash/wax all three in the fall. The next day or within a week, at the very most, there is a fine patina of volcanic ash on all three vehicles. Around here a wind of 4 to 5 mph is enough to bring up the old Mt St Helens ash and redeposit it.

I helped my good friend wash/wax his motorhome. Kind of like redoing a basketball court that's standing on edge.

My feet won't let me stand on a ladder for long.
Can you setup a scaffold for you to work on and let the ladder hold your coffee cup?
