Hello,

I am new to this forum, I have read many things on here that has been very informative and now I need some expert advise. I was doing some bush hog work for a friend when my bush hog SQ172 and a stump decided to have a fight..... As you would guess... Stump-1-bush hog-0. Anyhow, my pan weldment, blade holder, (AKA stump jumper) is damaged. Should I replace or repair??? The replacement part is about $300 bucks. I may could straighten it, but I was concerned about it being unbalanced and eating up the gears in the gear box. I don't won't to remove it all together and risk damaging more expensive parts (gear box or shaft). I would greatly appreciate any advise and input.

Thanks,
Hogger

If the damage is limited to the pan, you can consider repair. But if the blade bar is broken or bent, I'd replace it. If you are going to repair the pan, removing it may well serve to protect the grearbox components more than repairing the pan in place.
