I want to buy a 6' rotary cutter. I found on the local Facebook market place two of those. The condition is similar when for SQ720 the owner asks $100 more. $1250 vs. $1350
When i could find specs for SQ172 nothing about SQ720. Is there any difference?
I know the SQ172 has 10GA deck and cuts up to 2". 5 guess it is considered a light duty.
Which one is better or there is a 6' landpride in like new condition for $1800.

I have a SQ 720 and I'm pretty sure it's a little stouter built than the 172, if I remember right the deck on the 720 has two raised support braces the full length of the deck and raised bracing crossway's across the deck with the gearbox centering it and the 172 only has the raised bracing 1/2 way of the deck and no cross bracing, I would try for the 720 if I were looking at those two, just my opinion, good luck.

The SQ172 is light duty. I hit a stump with my SQ172 and broke something in the gearbox last week, even with the shear bolt breaking. While it is away at the shop to see if it is salvageable, I bought a Land Pride RCF2072. It is considered a medium duty cutter. It cuts nicer and with less vibration than the Bush Hog.

Thanks, after your post i looked closer and indeed the 720 is built much stouter. However, they have all other parts the same, i looked the gearbox, same number as some others which a care to check. So, the main difference is in the deck build i guess. Definitely given a choice 720 is the way to go.
Thanks again

Interesting, the SQ720 to me looks identical to landpride RCR1872 unless i miss something

Just saw this. Another one with the same design as RCR1872 and SQ720. Rhino 172 with reinforced deck.
I guess they made at the same factory
