Did about 6 hours of cutting with my MX10 on Saturday morning. Before I started I adjusted the slip clutch per the manual and greased every zerk I could find. Toward the end I noticed an intermittent, high pitched squeak. It probably happened 25% of the time. It's hard to tell with all the noise but based on the rhythm of it it sounded like it was coming from the pto shaft, specifically where the driveline and slip pto shafts meet. At that spot there is a bearing bit it is a sealed bearing.
One of my co workers suggested that maybe I left the clutch too loose. Is that a possible source for a squeak? Seems like a clutch slipping would be a continuos grinding noise. Easy enough to test though - just tighten the 6 bolts. Is there a way to test the bearing short of replacement?
