I am researching to buy an ssqa adapter plate (weld on) for an old pallet fork that I want to convert. It will be used on a Kubota MX5100 FEL. Anyone have any experience with the one out there on the market? What thickness do I really need? Just plan on moving no more than 2000 lbs and not that very often. Any suggestions on welding method, alinement height, etc.?

There are a few of these plates available on eBay.

I bought one of the $125 units when building a bale squeeze 7 years ago.

No problem welding it onto the implement. Way strong enough to handle 2000 lb loads.

Good luck

I can't give you suggestions on the plate thickness or the welding. I would suggest that when you attach the plate to have it set at an angle and not 90 degrees to the forks. This will give you more roll back down near ground height. At work the bradco forks have an angled plate and my forks are built 90 degrees, I was surprised how often I will run out of roll back with my forks. But my forks were less than 1/2 the price of the bradco and I'm not using them for a business, they move my firewood and save my back so I can't complain.

I bought mine from Titan. Free shipping. They have a few different thicknesses. Their prices are listed online. You price differential for going thicker isn't too much.

I got their 5/16" solid plate for a truck snowplow conversion. I bought the 1/4" solid plate for my bucket and cut some of the middle out.

A picture of the pallet fork would help. Is it 3 point now?

I agree on more rollback. As for height, the plate needs to be as low as possible and still be able to hook up when the forks are flat on the ground.
