SSQA pin questions?

I have been looking at either buying or building a SSQA for my loader and really not sure how the pin system on them works. Looks as if they are tapered and that when closed they are spring loaded, and if so what keeps them from being popped out of the bottom of the plate when back dragging or similar operation?

That spring just holds the engagement lever in its overcenter position. In this position the pin is blocked from backing up enuf to come out of the slot.

Thanks as of right now I'm still looking at building my own. I have been scrounging around the shop and found a bunch of the material I already have.
