New 3030 fits great in my shed, but I forgot to factor in the size of the rear brush mower and box grader when figuring out where to put everything.

Does anyone have a setup they could share for storing a box grader over a rear brush mower?

My initial idea was to store the box grader on its side by lifting it myself. Gave up on that after realizing how heavy the sucker is.

Second idea was to lift it with my FEL, but after spending an hour or so experimenting with where to attach a tow strap, I gave up on this after watching the grader come dangerously close to the tractor. I'm beginning to see the value of forks.

Idea three is to build a frame using 4x4s (or perhaps 4x6s) high enough to let me slide the cutter under the frame and put the grader on top.

Haven't used grader so not sure how high I can get it while attached to tractor.

Any advice/suggestions greatly appreciated.

Purchase 4 pieces of 2 foot long 2 by 2 inch angle iron and drill 4 bolt holes one hole in one side and through the box blade at all four corners at the top edge of the box blade to attach to the box blade making 4 legs. lafter installing the legs lower the box blade on the mower deck and reattach the upper link to the upper pin of the box blade and to the mower at the lower links and then back it all in the shed and your all done, then say nite nite to them for the winter season and detach the three point hitch from the box blade upper link and mower lower links-unless you want to knock down the tall dead brush and weeds you were unable to cut back during the season if the snow cover is very low.

I too am having to get creative in storing implements.

Your idea of building a frame to mount the scraper above the cutter is probably best. 2x4s would be plenty, but add criss-cross sections on the front, back and both sides for stability -- or nail in plywood on front, back and both sides. Cut holes for the PTO shaft, etc. The lower you make the box, the more stable it will be. It only has to be high enough to clear the gearbox. Even a home-made shelf mounted along a wall with "legs" can support a lot of weight. (I have a lot of shelves in my garage like this. I basically build them like mini-decks -- using a ledger board mounted horizontally along the wall (hitting all the studs), 3/4" plywood for the shelf and 2x4s for the frame and legs in the front. You can buy pretty beefy long screws for everything. I even have a "special" shelf that I built for really heavy stuff -- I used framing hangars for the cross-members.)

I am going to buy a Land Pride skid steer quick hitch for this pupose (SH35). With that, I can pick up my implements with my quick-attach loader and place them wherever I want. Until I get my out-building, I have to get very creative in my garages for storing my tractor and goodies.

Build a rack to store the blade above the mower...... then get yourself a skidsteer to three point adapter. Set the blade on the three point adapter to set it on your rack....... no more implement swinging into your hood and destroying it. Well..... I guess this would only work if you have the skidsteer coupler on your loader.

long term, forks and pallets are the best / simplest storage solution. That's why warehouses and yards do it that way. Even the clamp-on forks should have adequate capacity and would not set you back as much as QA set up. Pallets are on the side of the road everywhere. You would get a real strong pallet and add a wooden frame to it so you could stack another pallet on top. Take the clamp-on forks off and you're done.

Alternatively you can set the implements on dollys and roll them around to fit in the corners of your storage space if you have enough room for that.

I bought these from Barlows. Your local dealers should have them or access to them. These apply the stress around the bucket instead of in a smaller area per my Machinist brother in law, like the clamp on ones. I like the concept and installing idea of the clamp on ones but after considering his input I'm sticking with what I have. I believe these were also less money than the clamp on ones.

PS To me the Forks are a have to have item. Don't use alot but when they are needed they are irreplaceable.

Why not use a boom pole on the 3pt and heavy nylon towing strap and lift the box blade on to a heavy 4x4 platform above the mower?
