Well.....that really depends on the shop. I can't speak for others pricing. Depending on what seals are inside, and it could be one of many, seals cost anywhere from about $15 to $120. Then labor. Basic FEL cylinders, I would charge about $75 plus the cost of the seals. This includes filling with oil and pressure testing. I know of shops that charge half the price of a new cylinder. So, if a new cylinder is $1500 they charge $750 regardless of size or seal style. As you can see, prices vary. I would ask about testing and warranty. Every cylinder I do gets tested to 2,000 psi for at least 15 minutes. Sometimes I forget they're on test and leave them for a half hour or more. As far as warranty goes, truthfully, I tell people right out I don't have a warranty policy. It is on a case by case basis. Why? If a cylinder comes in and on teardown the oil is just old and nasty, I tell the customer right out there is no warranty. Most cylinder applications are different and you really can't provide one warranty for all cylinders. I would judge it on a case by case basis. But to tell you the honest truth, I have never had a cylinder come back.
I hope this clears things up for you. Clear as mud? Andy
