I have a maybe bad starter (goes click click) spring ingages but will not turn over battery is good. Is the started under the warranty? Dealer was not sure and also is not sure if it can go to NAPA and be looked at or not? I want to change it out so I have a running tractor. Tried screw driver to connect wires same sound no engine turn over!

Steps 1. get dealer to check on free starter
2. take to NAPA to check out (I have to take if off anyway)
3. Call on new one
4. Check with other dealers in area for Starter (no shipping time lost)

Starter is a Jinma QD102

Not familiar with that number. The usual starter on the 200 series is the QD100C3, last I looked anyway.

And starters are most definitely covered by warranty, but many folks have found that loose and or undersized wires are more often the problem than an actual bad starter.

Have you done any troubleshooting yet - or didja just come here first? Because this is a very very common problem with Chinese tractors. These tractor forums are just chock full of info relative to Jinma starter problems.

Took starter out and ran test on it before I came here. Problem was a cable negative. I wanted to replace the battery and cables anyway. In a car never have had a bad cable but four tractors now with problems.

Problem solved, but good to know in summer time not winter!!

Got everything back together. But I still need to replace the cables for now. The stock ones are aluminum with copper ends. In wiring I have always tried to stay with copper in houses so I think that would be the best. Less friction. And NAPA battery is okay but I like to buy from (I know) Wal-Mart because the ones without an auto department (tire center) take the batteries a customer service and don't ask any questions. Change it out every Spring (just leave the lights on over night).
