At least for the early YM's, Yanmar used the same alternator and regulator as '72 Datsun (Nissan) without AC. Nipon Denso as I recall. Still stocked at Autozone because of such broad application for that and I assume others. Inexpensive, I bought both for under $50. Plus there's a rebuild kit that the pros use with even broader application.... Often, there is a high volume starter that matches your bolt pattern, direction of rotation, and # of teeth for less money, and perhaps better performance.
I expect the same thing applies to starters, what you need is out there but listed for something unrelated and it would take research. I found the application lists in Ebay offerings to be the most extensive.
