The last few days the weather has been good. So I started A project I have been planning for A bout two years. Have been saving " JUNK " or salvage to build a Band Saw. Here is what I have so far . Started band asw and part of track. so I can gauge the carrage. Track is 33" wide. Used 1750 lb Trailer spindles and hubs. and 2"X6" tubing for frame.

Interesting idea. How do you plan to adjust blade tracking?

Don't put off until tomorrow = What you can get out of altogether.

Quit tempting me with new projects. Already 4 or 5 behind.

I was given a homemade band-saw that a neighbor's uncle made...

It looks just like a normal shop saw and cuts quite well...

Instead of metal... all the housings are made of wood... mostly plywood and painted gray.

The standard saw blade rotates on 2 heavy duty bicycle type wheels.

Yours will be much stronger using trailer spindles.

Maybe blade tension can be adjusted with air pressure.:D

Was planning on shiming the four bolts that mount spindle. I hope that will work. will use a hand pump HYD to adjust tension on blade.

Ugh... my 18" jet wood band saw is a little more finicky than that when adjusting the tracking. You might want to consider adding some sort of fine infinite adjustment for one of the spindles. Could you hinge one of the spindles and a screw or cylinder for adjusting?
