Daedong DK 40
Hi.....I am a new member so I don't know if you have covered this before but I am having problems starting my tractor. The starter motor kicks it over I have fuel and there do not seem to be any obvious fuel leaks. If it was my old Fergie I would say it needs bleeding but I can't see any obvious bleed screws. Can anyone please suggest what the problem might be and how to fix it. Please point me in the right direction if this has been dealt with before.
Cheers Howard Qld

Fuel shut of solenoid relay ?

That would be the first thing I would check. It has two coils the pull coil and the hold coil. The Pull coil is energized for 1 second, and the hold coil is energized for as long as the key is "on".

I would also check to ensure there is voltage at the glow plugs when the key switch is set to glow and also while cranking. By the way, what kind of DK40 id this: plain DK40 or DK40SE?

I hit the key let the glow plug light go off turned it over and we had music!!!! The big problem is now I don't know what I have done but if it continues to start I will be happy as we are reaching the limits of my mechanical and electrical ability.
The tractor is a DK 40. Serial no FC7300032
Thanks for your help
Cheers Howard

You might want to review this thread where tabacman is working a similar problem. His SE is an early model that may be similar to yours [electrically].

There are two versions of the stop solenoid. The old version is mounted externally on the right side of the engine and functions by operating the manual stop lever via a linkage. This old version is energized for a couple seconds to stop the engine. You can literally see what this version function. The new version of the stop solenoid mounts to the front of the engine block and the plunger (which pushes the injection pump rack) is internal where you can't see it. Also, this new version needs to be energized to allow the engine to run. Different Kioti tractor models converted to the new solenoid version at various times between 2005 and 2008. Since you didn't tell your build year, you'll need to take it from here.

Supplemental: Your "F" s/n indicates a 2006 build year. The DK40 went to the new stop solenoid in 2005 starting with s/n 000097, so you definitely have the new version.

Your intermittent problem may well be the key switch. Many owners have had problems with these switches. Other than replacing the switch, several owners have "fixed" the switch [at least temporarily] with a couple shots of WD40 or electrical contact cleaner into the key hole followed by cycling the switch through all positions several times.

Hi i live just on the Warrago highway at Muirlea. I have a DS 4510 so if you need to drop by to exchange info you are welcome . Mine starts first time using the glow plugs for about 10 seconds. Is there something which makes you suspect a fuel problem?
