Anyone else have issues with start-up smoke in their garage or small building stored tractor? I've been thinking along the lines of trying a short piece of heat resistant flexible tubing or hose to route the exhaust out the open garage door. Slip it over ,start and warm up indoors, remove and drive out. Think this will work and not harm anything? Anyone got an idea for appropriate material? Source?
Seems like it have seen this done at auto repair shops.
oh tractor is a JD 3720
Thanks

Like this?
Exhaust Hose | Crushproof Tubing | Industrial Hoses
Sounds like a really good idea to me.
I'd like to let my tractor warm up before I move it, but the start up soot and the rapidly accumulating fumes makes that an unpleasant option, even with the garage door open.

exactly, i need to give them a call , not sure it needs to fit snugly as my main goal is just to get the particulate out- have mild asthma.
I really like to let the tractor and hydraulics get warm
thanks for the link.
i might even be ok if it weren't for the del bucket as i blocks the flow of the exhaust

I have a piece of dryer exhaust tube that I use for extended running in the garage. Cheep available at any hardware store and effective. I don't use it for the tractor because having the garage heated makes for a quick start up to moving but rather for when working on the cars and trucks.

My exhaust comes out facing the front of the tractor, so I just back in. I've got one of those portable shelters and the door is always open.

I also installed a dryer vent and use dryer hose. I used a few old tin cans and aluminum duct tape to step down the hose to exhaust size. I hold it on with a bungee cord. I have it exiting up high and can pull it up and out of the way when not needed.

My mechanic uses a hose connected to a flap on an overhead door to vent vehicles that he runs in his garage. Has worked for him for over 30 years.

I would back it in to park it since it has the exhaust out front. Fire it up pull it out the door a few feet and let it warm up. Less trouble to do and no harm done to the tractor. I would not over think this. Just my opinion

When there is space available, I back the Kubota into the garage. Before starting I slip a piece of flex tubing (sold as pool hose) with a flex pipe coupler on the end over the exhaust pipe. The flex pipe coupler's diameter is adjusted for a nice friction fit. After starting I wait about 30 seconds before pulling the hose off. By that time the end of the exhaust pipe is beginning to warm up, but isn't hot and won't melt anything, and the worst of the start-up smoke is blown outside. I like wait about a minute (total) before pulling the tractor out to where the exhaust is beyond the door.
