My experience has never been bad with another dealer because I didn't buy the equipment there. I have always had very good luck with the dealer and any warranty work.

On vehicles Ford has a very tight service policy. They have a system that generously rewards dealerships for giving good service and penalizes them for poor service. The customer is sent a service rating after every service. All of my ford trucks that I buy I take to a different dealer. They don't deal hardly at all on the price of the vehicles but their shop is almost all ford trucks.

With John Deere they have a similiar system. Also with Deere if you aren't happy they usually will get a regional person involved with the issue if it isn't being resolved. I actually started dealing exclusively with the dealership in our area that provided the best service. Initially they wouldn't budge on price. After going there awhile the owner came to me and asked where I bought my equipment. I told him where I got the best deals. He asked what I considered a good deal and we agreed that anything I needed would be at x% off of list. I haven't been anyplace else since.

If you were only talking a few hundred i would go with the local dealer, but you said $3000.00 That is a lot of saving, is that including delivery? i would take my chance on the warrenty issue(perhaphs you won't have any) and also even if you do, the local dealer should make good on warrenty.
