The wet weather has been causing our septic tank to act up and I go to the coin laundry every week. Last week a broken machine ripped me off for $5.00. The attendant had left so I put a note in the coin slot saying, out of order, and switched machines. Yesterday as my clothes were washing, I remembered this and asked the attendant for a refund. The lady said the machine had been repaired (it's broken again), and it had been too long and she couldn't do anything. There must be a mighty short statute of limitations on robbery by a coin laundry.

Sounds like - she must be right there to witness the event.

Don't worry, even rich guys will steal your money.

Apparently Amazon same day delivery drivers only get paid when they make a delivery to a person. If they drive out to a location and nobody is there, they have to take the parcel back to the depot and they don't get paid for their trip.

I been doing my laundry at the laundry mat now for 9 months since I moved into the camper.

While I should be thankful the laundry mat is there, I still hate it.

Since I'm single and avoiding the virus, i found buying new underwear a good option.

The coinop business is the best way to make money, while providing a product is optional. I've had coin-op car washes take my money; when I called the number listing all that I got was a recording telling which employees to show up to work. I've had problems with two ifferent dog washes... one stopped accepting coins when my pup was all covered with soap. They gave me enough "tokens" to rinse him off; but not as much as I had put in the machine. The other time the attendant said he couldn't help me so after several phone calls I did a reversal through my CC; I don't like doing that for $5.00 but am not into donating money to commercial businesses.

Once, a machine took my money while an attendant was there. She gave it back and had me sign and give my phone number. It was then that I thought the owner might be calling some of those numbers to make sure attendants weren't claiming they'd refunded money they'd put into their pockets.

It must count when they leave it on your porch? 99% of my Amazon deliveries are on the porch. I very rarely see them and get the package hand delivered.

I go to one every once in a while when I have large, heavy items like blankets, comforters, or winter jackets. They use a cash card system. You put money or a CC into a machine along with their special cash card to be reloaded. The washers and dryers only take those cards. The washes seem a bit expensive, but they include a free dry with each wash.

I think I recall a sign that states disputes have to be made within 24 hours.

I think it depends on where you live. As discussed in another thread, unattended packages have a lifespan of minutes in some neighborhoods.

Thanks. You are probably correct. If a person actually has to be given the package for the driver to be paid, it certainly would de-motivate someone to be a driver. Especially if your route was rural v. urban.

That 24 hour business works in their favor. I drive across town to get to their laundry and usually won't make the trip for five dollars. I looked and didn't see any such sign.
Don't know the lower limit for small claims court and probably wouldn't go there if they'd hear the case but, would be tempted to take that route just to see how the owner liked the hassle.

There is no minimum. You could sue for $5.00.

There is a filing fee which is $25.00-$50.00.

Around here, courts have been shut down due to COVID. There is a huge backlog.

Years ago, Neighbor of mine my age, around 14 or so, always had plenty of pocket money. Used to go to the laundromat a few hundred feet away and fish quarters out of the soap venting machine with a magnet and a wire. I must say. I always seemed to meet the most interesting and ambitious people.

Thanks for that, Mo. One day when I get caught up... Who am I kidding, I'll never get caught up.

Toys,
I was asking myself what good a magnet would do. Then, I remembered, you're Canadian and in the 60's Canadian nickels were magnetic. Am I remembering right?
