I have always wanted to 'test' ride in a sweet dozer or an articulated dump truck. We'd never do it, but don't you just wish about it every time you see a big construction site.

Skip the NASCAR experience, go to heavy equipment school for the day.

Not legal? How so? In fact it is actually a good idea. I have two master key ring's myself. If you are mechanic this little key ring can save you a lot of time. Sure beats having to track down a key for every piece of equipment on a lot when your doing repairs.

Read again. I said it is not illegal. Mechanics, dealers, etc have a valid need for a master key set. My problem is that any kid with $33 can suddenly have a key ring to go joy ride and smash up equipment thanks to our internet key supplier.

Combine these thoughts: kid, $33, master keys, youtube videos involving equipment, smashed up tractor, demolished construction site

Oops, I misread. I thought it said is illegal not is not illegal.

Who needs a key, the professional crook can pick one of these cheap ignition switches in a couple of seconds. Back when I did repo's I never carried keys for equipment. It was just as fast to pick the lock as it was to find the correct key.

Ouch!!! The key for my L series tractor is included.... What a deal... ride around the country with a flatbed looking for a tractor in the field... drive in, load it up, cross state lines.... sell for 100% profit .....

Not everybody checks on the wherebouts of their equipment daily..... so, it could be days/weeks before the disappearance is noticed. Methinks that I should create an additional cut out switch that isn't obvious so that even with a key you have to know something special about my tractor to just drive it off...

grr... one more thing to worry about.. why can't everybody be honest and non-violent?

As a construction super, I have a great need for those. Subcontractors often leave their equipment any old place on a site, and the day they don't come to work it's blocking a delivery, or a crane, or cement trucks... not to mention that I myself often find it very handy to use certain equipment (to unload a truck, inspect something up high, move material) and if the subs aren't there, it's most inconvenient.

That's why you need Lojack, at least maybe then you have a chance to get your stuff back. :D Those keys are all over. I've got friends who are mechanics and some who work construction. Almost all of them have key sets like that. Most of the time they're not needed, though. You can crank most equipment with a thin screwdriver.
