This steam shovel was completely buried in a creek bed in the Cariboo where it was used for gold mining.

Got to love the old steam machines. I would love to get a steam traction engine some day.
One thing with steam engines is when you load them up them up they sound like they are saying "I think I can, I think I can, I think I can" and won't give up.

Reminds me of one of my favorite books as a kid, Mike Mulligan's Steam Shovel.

The same author, illustrator Virginia Lee Burton wrote another favorite, The Little House.

I loved that book also when I was a kid.

I doubt if many kids growing up now even know what a steam shovel is. End of social commentary.

I saw a documentary on the digging up of that shovel. If it wasnt that one it was a similar story.
