Steel Cut for Grader/Planer

Thanks Steve, sounds like making the cutting depth adjustable might be worth the effort. Not sure what my uses would be beyond the road maintenance. I do have some leveling to do around the yard where it might be just the ticket.

Sorry I lost track of this thread and did not respond sooner.
Thank you all for the compliments.
It took many hours to cut the steel. Would think very hard before I did it again. At the time I didnt know any better.
The fit was excellent. The parts where all within 1/16" and square. But I
spent alot of time with a hand file to get them that way. The five cross
pieces and the angle piece were the only ones I had to worry about.
I do carpentry work so know alot about making things fit, But steel was
new to me. The welder said it was better than it had to be.
The cutting edges fit a Land Pride rear blade for their lower hp rated blade.
I didnt feel that I need the strength of a heavier edge with my 4x4x3/8 angle.
They are flat with bevel on one edge 3" wide and 3/8" thick. 75 bucks each.

Gordon, That would be quite the undertaking cutting all that material with a sawsall. You did a fine job there. I work in an industrial machine/weld shop and have access to all means of cutting and bending beyond what I have at home so that part of the build would be easy. I'd just have the material delivered to the shop and cut and bend what I need and then haul it home.

That Bison blade is one nice blade and the price sounds good too, does that include the hydraulics? Best to have both rear blade and landplane if you can.

Not sure what your looking for as far as a RB120? Do you mean the RB55120? That Land Pride link will get you to all the rear blades that they have.

I do not have enough remote valves yet.:( I need 4 remotes and I only have three.:ashamed: The other 2 are used for the Top & Tilt. If you look close in the picture, you can see that I only have one hydraulic on and the offset is a manual telescoping cylinder with pins that came with the blade.

Brian, My tractor only has 2 remotes so I run my 3 function blade with a 3-spool loader valve operating off of one remote. My tractor has a cab and I made a mount on the back so I can operate it through the open rear window. With you're T&T do you still need the tilt function of the blade?

No reason for the tilt hydraulic when you have "TnT" in my opinion. So my 4 functions needed are two for the "TnT" and two for the angle and offset functions on the rear blade. I have about everything to add 2 more remotes, just need to do it instead of spending so much time on TBN. Actually it's not quite that easy, tractor is at a different location, not at home. :(

I believe Beaver Valley Supply is a wholesale distributor to dealer's only. I suggest you email/call them and verify.

KWentling,
I would second the recomendation for both a landplane/grader and the rearblade. These two implements work together to give you a nice finished product.

Currently I have a light duty 7' rearblade with limited abilities but a 10' rearblade that is heavy duty may be purchased if I move into a larger tractor in the near future. I am considering a 6115 Deere for the ranch work and would hope this could handle a wider landplane/grader too.

For the landplane/grader if you have the tools and abilties as stated I would definately build that myself. I have only limited tools, chopsaw, cutting torch, welder and grinders and did not feel limited in any way.
