steel toed boots vers Plastic

I want to get some steel toed boots, with steel shanks.
Seems like most of them are now some kind of plastic.
Any of you tried the plastic??? did you like it???

I have used the composite toe due to electrical work. They don't conduct.
Just as safe as the steel and about the same weight.

I have the composite toe. They are a bit lighter than my old steel toe and they are comfortable.

I work outside so I buy composite toes, unless it is a boot I only plan on wearing in summer.

Maybe they are cheaper, or maybe because of threads like this.

You can wear steel toes when working with electrical. Most will say approved on the box.


Not sure why they even make steel toes anymore

My main interest if in the arch support, have an extension ladder with narrow rungs & it hurts to clime it some times.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I bet Steel Toe has become a misnomer and most are probably not steel any more.

They are generalized as safety toe, but many are still steal. Which annoys me. Steel gets cold faster then composite.

Carry a magnet when you go boot shopping.

Steel is heavier and makes for cold toes come winter time. Composite might be a few bucks more, but worth it if you want to wear them in cold weather.
