Massey Ferguson 135
Hi Group

Just picked up a Massey Ferguson 135 after destroying numerous ride on mowers.

A raw beginner but have learnt a lot just reading the forum.

My 135 needs a bit of work so will be asking a few newbie question if I cant find the answers here.
Writing this after replacing the water hoses after they burst! 110F plus!

Have good festive season ....

Cheers and Beers

Hi mate.
Good to see another Aussie MF owner on here.
If yours is anything like mine when I got it, you will probably need to give it a good service. Keep her well maintained and these tough old girls will last another 50 years.
Parts from:
Bareco and Sparex that's if you haven't found them already.
cheers

G'day Cobber and welcome to TBN from Tassie.

Enjoy the site... more so that you've joined.

And Happy Chrissie! Keep cool, she's going to be hotter than Darwin tomorrow. :)

Hi

Thanks, just learning the ropes. The first priority is getting and putting everything back to stock standard. Electrics and Dash instruments are 50/50. Mine is diesel and has a alternator that is not charging. Anyway its going to take me a good few months getting the bugger upto scratch. Need to put the full wiring loom back. It starts and runs well so that is a good first step. Hydraulics I am still getting to understand.

Then there is the non standard hitch and some crap welding here and there.

I need to pick up a slasher or flail next. Any advice on a local brand?

Anyone know a good 135 mechanic in VIC?

Catch ya later!

Wiring loom you should be able to get from Bareco or QTP in Ireland. I have found QTP parts so far to be of better quality.
The dynamo to alternator conversion could be an issue as I don't think any of the AUS diesel 135's had an alternator from new.

PS: if you haven't got one already, try to get an original 135 full workshop manual by Massey and not the IT version as their manuals are edited and not always in the most helpful places. Ebay in the US is a good source for the used originals.
The operator's manual can be useful but it's the workshop/service manual you probably need the most.
And the parts book with useful diagrams is available online...you need to get a login from your local Massey dealer.

The 135 is a great tractor. Simple to work on and parts are still available. I had one for years. If you need any help with repairs you will get lots of help on here. We have lots of knowledgably members. I also have lots of photo's of repairs that I did.

I Just got someone to print out the PDF manual 400 pages and its pain to read. It combines the 148 and 135 in the one service manual. Is this the Standard workshop manual.
I found the operators manual at a second hand bookshop for 2 dollars! I will try a local Massey Dealer, thanks

My one has the alternator already installed. Its a Bosch which makes life easy. Whoever installed it did a crap job, the mounting does not line up the pulleys and thats why the fan belt
looks like rats chewed it for 100 years. The brushes and regulator are gone and its not charging I will sort that out quickly. I have a Solar panel trickle charging it for now.

I will buy one of those QTP wiring looms and see how it goes. The mechanicals are the first priority at the moment!

Thanks
