I got no responses on my spring service thread so I'll ask outright. Has anybody else done the steering fluid service, screen filter cleaning and fluid change? Just wondering if I'm the only bozo **** enough to do it? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

snoboy,
I think you have already done it. Someone can correct me if I am wrong but I believe the power steering uses the fluid from the transmission/hydraulic system.H.

No, different sump. Shares half the pump but different circuit. Steering has a tank under the left side floorboards, but is never addressed as far as scheduled maintanence. You have to go to the maintanence manual and look at the schematic. The resevoir holds apx. 1.5 gal. it does however use the same fluid as the hydraulics.

The newer models dropped the PS tank and now just draw it out of the transmission. We never quite understood the need for the ps tank.

Hey guys, I also have one of the older models with the tank underneath the floorboard. Mine started leaking recently because it had dry rotted and Branson had a fix which included doing away with the tank and using the main hyd. system to power the steering. Be sure to check with your dealer, they may be able to do this for yours and save you the work minus the cost of fluid. Hope this helps!!

I am new to this site but have owned my Branson 3510 for almost three years. Currently my tractor sits with it's dry rotted and leaking power steering tank out and no dealer within 100 miles and it is a holiday weekend. Both dealers near my house have quit dealing in Bransons. I understand that there is a some sort of dealer/warranty fix to do away with the tank. My problem is that I need to fix it now, on my own. Does anyone have a parts list or instructions on how to perform the modification?

Thank you for your time,

Charlie

I serviced the ps system/ changed my fluid some time back because the manual called for it. I'll have to check the system, although I haven't noticed any leaks.

I also thought it was odd to have a tank for the power steering seperate from the other trans fluid. Mine is not leaking , yet , I am very interested in fixing it before it fails. Does anyone have the service bulletins for the up grade? I don't use my tractor too much but I don't like it to fail when I'm trying to get something done. See my other posts.
